Rex Tillerson, former Secretary of State gave commencement speech at the Virginia Military Institute.  During his speech…well he basically laid into his former boss about integrity and ethics.  He talked about the importance of Truth to freedom and how accepting “alternative realities” as the truth means America loses it’s value as a nation.  It was a startlingly poignant speech.  I mean, obviously, he didn’t name drop Donald Trump, but it’s hard to say that wasn’t his primary target when he talks about the leadership of the country. Still, Trump would still probably insist Rex was talking about the Democrats.

So, some news outlets are reporting some discord between the State Department and the White House after the unceremonious firing of Rex Tillerson.  And by “some discord”, they seem to mean “open revolt”.  Loyalty has something to do with it I’m sure, but also the fact that the official narrative seems to clash with the “unofficial” (but mostly believed) narrative.  Officially, Rex was ousted on Friday, and asked to wait until the beginning of the new week to announce it.  Unofficially, Rex found out from an employee who printed out Trump’s tweet on Tuesday morning.  One thing is for sure, as much as Sarah Huckabee Sanders is going to be working overtime to assure the public that everything is fine in the White House, more than ever, no one is going to believe heA

The Allure of the Button

So it’s being reported that Rex Tillerson and James Mattis are basically holding Trump back from making an attack on North Korea.  I guess he’s just itching to go for what they are internally calling a “bloody nose” approach, which must be music to the ears of America’s favorite bully.  All of this would be way more funny if millions of lives didn’t hang in the balance.
